I have already made my first batch of bread. My starter has been in the fridge 4 days. It is time to feed it. The recipe says If not making bread "after feeding" throw away 1 cup. Do I feed and immediately throw away a cup or let it sit for
CANDY, HELLO! DONВґT WORRY. IF YOU DONВґT USE THE STARTER LET IT IN REFRIGERATOR. FEED 1 TIME /WEEK.
YOU MUST KEEPING ALWAYS 1 CUP, IF TAKE 1/2, REPLACE 1/2. (ABOUT 6 TB FLOUR AND 10 TB WARM WATER)

This is very cool phenomenon..."Starters" are small bits of bread dough that carry on the original active ingredients..this is from the era of cattle drives and chuck wagons..pretty neat. Hard to fit into a category?!

This was a double batch, baked as one loaf in a rectangular glass pan. It turned out surprisingly well--and not difficult to slice. This is one slice, cut in half.
A white, light-wheat loaf (or pair of loaves) using all homemade leaven. With the light flour it really rose and was very lively to handle. The two loaves baked together in a square glass baking dish, 8-inch, for 40 minutes in a hot oven.
